Weekend at the “Border of la Paz”

We invite you to experience an unprecedented journey with us to visit the wineries on the
northern border of our country: in the Uruguayan Department of Rivera and just across the
border to Brazil in Sant'Ana Do Livramento.

During the extended holiday weekend of October 7th to 9th, we will have the opportunity to tour the renowned Cerro Chapeu Winery in Rivera, Uruguay as well as the delightful Almadén de Miolo and Cordilhera de Sant'Ana wineries, in Sant'Ana do Livramento, Brazil.

We have developed an incredible itinerary that will allow you to visit 3 very different wineries, experience their stories, as well as marvel at the charms of the city of Rivera, its surroundings and fascinating landscapes. A completely different experience from what we are used to seeing in the south and east of Uruguay in Montevideo, Canelones and Maldonado.

The wineries that we will visit include:

Cerro Chapeu Winery:
This family run winery has been dedicated to wine production for more than ten generations. It started in Catalonia, Spain by Francisco Carrau Vehils in 1752 and established in Uruguay in
1930 with the arrival of winemaker Juan Carrau Sust.

The Cerro Chapeu facilities were constructed in 1997, including 4 levels incorporated into a hillside to optimize resources and use gravity for minimal intervention during vinification. They are pioneers in the Americas to use this design.

Within their vineyards, we can find 16 grape varieties, where Tannat, Cabernet Sauvignon, Arinarnoa, Sauvignon blanc, Pinot noir and Chardonnay stand out among others.

We will have the opportunity to tour the winery, their vineyards, and of course, we will taste their wines and enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by the winery's chef, Rodrigo Caggiani.

Additional bonus experience:
While visiting the Cerro Chapeu facilities, we will have the privilege of participating in the "Native Flora Observation Walk", led by the specialist agronomist Andrés Berrutti. As we walk along the path in the native forest near a lookout point, we will be able to experience the extraordinary environments of the path of the line. This pathway marks the dividing line between Brazil and Uruguay. An experience of the landscape and biodiversity between two countries, two cultures, two histories and a shared common destiny.

Almadén de Miolo Winery:

Almadén is one of the most traditional wineries in Brazil and where the first soil study in the Americas was carried out.
Located in the Sierra Gaúcha, with a 950-hectare vineyard (the largest in South America), they produce wines and sparkling wines that follow the trend of the New World: young and fruity.
Almadén is also the largest exporter of wines from the neighboring country.
We will tour their facilities and taste their wines on their beautiful panoramic deck with impressive vistas of their vineyards.

Cordilheira de Sant'Ana Winery:
Located in the “Cerro Palomas” terroir, it is owned by winemakers Gladistão Omizolo and Rosana Wagner, who came together to fulfill a dream: to make great wines. To realize this dream, they began from the ground up, launching their project in 1999.
Today they produce wines of exceptional quality, supplying the Brazilian market with wines that have gained international recognition.
We will tour their winery, its working area, and finally we will enjoy lunch accompanied by six of their wines as we delight ourselves with one of the most beautiful views in Sant'ana do Livramento: the Cerro de Palomas.

Also included:
We will also be having dinner in two iconic places in Rivera: the Restarante Gaúcho in the
Hotel Casino and the Carlos Gardel Restaurant. Finally, we will also have free time to tour Rivera's duty-free shops and experience the cultural richness of the mixture of Uruguayan and Brazilian border.
