Wine Tourism Weekend in Carmelo, The Uruguayan Tuscany.

After our incredible experience last year, we are pleased to once again celebrate the Uruguayan Wine Tourism Weekend by touring the Carmelo and Colonia wineries on November 12th and 13th, 2022.

This year we have a new itinerary so that you can visit several different wineries that are each very unique, marveling at the charms of Carmelo, its river, vistas and gastronomy.

The wineries that we will visit include:

Los Cerros de San Juan Winery
This is the oldest winery in Uruguay, declared a historical monument and heritage of the nation.
In 2019 it was acquired by an Argentine investment group, which renovated the old facilities, adding new technology to be able to produce high-end wines, launching a new visual identity and include new vineyards as well as olive groves.
We will tour their facilities and enjoy an exquisite lunch with a selection of their best wines.

El Legado Winery
This boutique winery has a charm that will make you fall in love with it at first sight. We will be hosted by the owners and get to know a little bit of the incredible history that is behind this special place and taste their incredible wines.

Cordano Winery – Almacén La Capilla
The Cordano Winery is family run with a long history in Carmelo, opened in the last century by Italian immigrants from Piemonte, Italy. Currently, Ana María Cordano, the daughter of the founder and her family manage the winery.
We will visit the family museum in the establishment's cellar, taste 4 of their wines accompanied by a small snack and we will have the chance to buy regional products in their store.

CampoTinto Winery
Campotinto was established in 2013 initially solely as a winery, but over the years it has become an experience shared between its vineyards, its hotel and restaurant. This is a place where one arrives for the first time, but feels as if they have been there before. The main house, an outdoor gallery with a huge wisteria vine and of course incredible wines. There we will do a tasting of 4 wines, including a snack of cheeses and meats sourced from the local area. As a special gift from the winery, we will each receive a free bottle of Tannat to take home with us!

Fripp Winery
Located in Conchillas, this family business with a young and entrepreneurial spirit is dedicated to working with passion to carry out a project that has not stopped growing. They started in September 2020, in the midst of a pandemic, but for those who work with that level of drive, nothing can go wrong. There we will be received by Leandro Fripp and his family and we will enjoy a delicious homemade lunch accompanied by their best wines.
